Welcome to AID

Compassion wherever there is suffering
Conviction that the compassion is strong enough to eliminate suffering
Courage to make this conviction a reality
This is AID...

Association for India's Development (AID) is a volunteer movement committed to promoting sustainable, equitable and just development. In solidarity with non-violent people's struggles, AID supports grassroots organizations in India and initiates efforts in various interconnected spheres such as education, livelihoods, natural resources, health, women's empowerment and social justice.

AID now has about 42 chapters across the USA, over 2000 members and about 1000 active volunteers. AID is funding over 380 projects in 22 Indian states, the primary source of funding being the Indian community in the US. AID believes that the problems of poverty, illiteracy, ill health, and unemployment are all interrelated and an effective solution is one that tackles them all.

The long term goal of AID is to establish `seed villages', where AID will work as partners with the villages and the focus will be the all round development.

The Kansas City chapter of AID was formed in March 2002. We have currently 25 active volunteers. We meet every Friday at the Flarshiem Hall, UMKC. Please send an email to aid@umkc.edu to get in touch with us.
