Mercury-Roman god of communication --Our Mission--The Mercury Association: UMKC Student Communicators is designed to provide information about educational and career opportunities in all areas of the communication industry. It is also designed to provide a sense of unity and purpose among communication students. It will achieve this through guest speakers who will provide personal career insights, web page updates to distribute internship and club information, and to be an integral part of UMKC. -- MEMBERSHIP--
Membership in the Mercury
Association: UMKC Student
Communicators shall be open to any student interested in the communication
industry and shall not be limited to majors in that department. Alumni and
faculty will be welcomed and encouraged to belong. --Officers--
The officers
of the club shall include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer,
Publicist, Historians, Webmaster, and Internet TV/Radio Liaison.
Section
Two: Officer Eligibility
A. Be enrolled at the University of
Missouri-Kansas City.
B. Have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Any active member of the club is
eligible for any office with the exception of the office of president. The
president should have been an active member for at least one semester previously
and attended at least 75% of the meetings/events. -- Finances--
Funding for the Mercury
Association: UMKC Student
Communicators shall come from accounts designated for allocation through
Arts & Sciences Student Council and/or the Student Government Association.
The Board of Directors may initiate various fundraising activities as it sees
fit. Acceptance of funds from students’ activity fees does not preclude the
possibility of joint funding via departmental allocations or other funding
agencies within or apart from the University
